Goblins of Zarth is the vibrant new world designed and developed by Tabletop Dynasties. This game is set in the vast labyrinthine city of Zaranthurul, where goblins rule and all other races are pushed to the periphery or live in service of the Zarth empire.
The 2023rd Zaranthurul Fun Run
Every year the sprawling goblin city of Zaranthurul hosts its annual Fun Run Festival. This event sees teams of hand-picked runners assemble to pit their prowess against state-sponsored murder mazes set up in every suburb of our glorious city!
Each murder maze is unique, with local municipalities working hard throughout the year to improve their facilities and outdo each other with lovingly hand-crafted trap networks. Participating teams strive to plot the fastest path to the city’s centre, aiming to achieve this goal ahead of all other Fun Run contestants with minimal loss of life and limb.
The first team to climb the Ziggurat and cross the line into Prenn Towers are crowned winners, receiving fabulous prizes and lucrative endorsement packages.
While the whole city gathers to celebrate this joyous occasion, it’s not just the living who get a kick out of the proceedings. The annual Fun Run Festival marks a time when boundaries between the world of the living and the dead are at their weakest. For this reason, it is not uncommon to see recently deceased Runners resurface to interfere with the outcome of proceedings. It is even said that the dead wager souls against the result of each leg of the Fun Run in hopes of attaining resources to funnel back into their favourite team’s chance of victory.
This single-session special event takes place on Cancon’s Saturday evening from 6:30 pm until 10:30 pm.
Players are grouped into Fun Run teams of three members; these can be self-assigned or assigned at random.
The game is run by a team of referees (game masters) who facilitate the action in five-minute rounds as players move their miniatures through a physical recreation of the trap-laden Zaranthurul streets, avoiding death, each other and death at the hands of each other.
Players whose characters die during the run enter an exciting postmortem world where they gamble collected soul tokens on the race’s outcome or use them to meddle with or support the remaining teams as they strive for glory!!
The game uses a uniquely abbreviated version of the Dungeons and Dragons’ core mechanics and is suitable for new and experienced players.
The Zaranthurul Fun Run contains themes of horror and fantasy violence, so it is best suited for players aged 15 years and older.
Participants go in the running to win fabulous prize support packages from our sponsors and a one-of-a-kind trophy sculpted by Cepholopede!!
This game was written and designed by Herbert Peppard for Tabletop Dynasties. All art, sculptures and visual assets were created by Cepholopede.
